Three Favorite Memories

I have three favorite memories from this school year. One of my favorite memories/parts of this school is something we had recently, career week. I enjoyed career week a lot mainly because we didn’t have to do much work during that time period. My second favorite memory of the school year is the class elective wood-shop as a whole. Wood-shop has been probably my favorite elective I have taken ever, and a class that I will remember for a long time. My third favorite memory was doing the basketball teams, and participating in city finals. Waking up in the morning, driving to school and not doing anything learning related and playing basketball was really fun for two reasons. Number one, city finals basketball was just really fun to play, because I really enjoy basketball. Number two, doing city finals allowed us to play basketball while class was in session, basically skipping the learning part of the day.

20% Project Week #6

For the last week of cooking for this twenty percent project, I chose to do something big, I chose to make an attempt at cooking a medium rare steak. This time, I struggled a lot with cooking the steak, and I believed that it was the hardest dish I’ve done so far. An error I made was that I over seasoned the steaks and they ended up too salty. The thing I struggled the most with was trying to get a seer on the steak, and getting a medium rare on the steak. I cooked five steaks in total, and the first two were over cooked, and the three I cooked after were a little bit undercooked. One thing that I still don’t really understand is getting a seer on the steak, and spooning the steak. All in all, this project was really fun, and I intend on continuing cooking by myself.

Different Between the Pictures

The children in this image have very different reactions. The child on the left, seems to be very unsatisfied and aggravated with what seems to be hundreds of toys by his/her side. Meanwhile on the right picture, the kid seems to be having a great time with what looks to be a makeshift toy car. These is a big difference in these different pictures, even though the kid on the right has only one toy, and the toy looks to be made from sticks, this kid seems to be much happier than the kid on the left who has hundreds of toys with him. This picture shows how the theme of the picture can be, “Happiness and satisfaction in life depends on how much is considered enough.”

My Favorite Room

My favorite room in the house I live in is my room. The reason why I like my room the most because I can focus, have my privacy, and my room is just a place I can relax in. I like my room to focus in. When I have something like homework to do, or something I need to do, I can do it in on my desk and complete with nothing in my way. My room is my favorite room because I have privacy in it. In a house with four people in it, I need sometime for myself, and my room is a place where I do have my own time. Lastly, I can just use my room to relax. If I want chill and relax somewhere, out of all of places I could choose from I would choose my room.

20% Project Week #5

This week, I changed my plans from roasting vegetables, to making chicken noodle soup. I decided to do this to learn how to make a soup, which will be very valuable later on in my life. Overall all, I think I did pretty well while cooking. I cooked for my brother and dad, and they both liked it a lot. This time, something that I improved upon was that I prepared before turning on the heat and cooking. Last time I cooked, I was rushing to put things in the stove and taking ingredients out. But this time, I prepared and took everything out before cooking. One thing that I struggled with was that the pot I was cooking in wasn’t big enough. The pot wasn’t big enough, so I couldn’t make as much soup as I wanted. I also went a little heavy with the chili flakes, and next time I probably won’t sprinkle as much. Next week for my final week of cooking, I will make an attempt at cooking a medium rare steak.

Rad Reading – April

This month I read the book the Crossover by Kwame Alexander. The book is a story told in first person view by he main character Joshua Bell. The book is mainly about the life of middle school JB an the family crisis he falls into. His best friend/brother falls out of his side from issues he made with him, one including that JB fell in love, which leaves Josh alone. Josh’s dad, a former basketball star has also been seeing bad health and he would have to change some routine things in his daily life. Josh tries to cross over what’s happening on and off the court without a playbook to the game, life.

All in all, the book is very good, this book is one of my favorite books. The ending of the book was extremely good. Near the end of the book, the story nearly brought me to tears. The relationships between Josh and everyone was probably the most realistic and understanding relationships I’ve ever read from a book, especially with his brother JB. I can understand many things Josh does and thinks. This book is one that I recommend to everyone, basketball fan or not. This book is truly one of my favorite reeds in a long long time.

My favorite character in the book is the main character Joshua Bell. Something I like about Josh is that he is a devoted and committed to basketball, and that he stays strong even in very grave situations. A quote to show this is, “Just one more game. I think my father is dying.” This quote is from Josh’s championship game, but his dad suffered from a massive heart attack, bringing him to the bring of death at the hospital. This quote proves that even in the worst situations, Josh is committed and he devotes himself to ball.

My favorite quote is on paragraph 1, where “Basketball Rule #1” says, “Always leave your heart on the court.” This quote is one of my favorites because the basketball court is not just a basketball court, but it is very symbolic in that the court symbolizes family, highs, lows, freedom, and many others. I didn’t know this before, but this quote also has foreshadowing. This shows foreshadowing because Josh’s dad Chuck Bell would have heart failure on the court while going for a dunk, leading to his death.

20% Project Week 4

This week, my original plan was to make a soup stock, but instead of that, I made a last minute decision to make an Alfredo sauce for pasta. In the process of cooking the sauce, I realized that Alfredo sauce is much more difficult and complex than the spaghetti I made in the previous week. Some things I struggled with were cooking the chicken for the perfect time, mixing the flour and milk into the sauce, and chopping vegetables and chicken. When I was cooking the chicken, I cooked it for too long, fearing that it would be raw. When I was mixing in the milk and flour, the sauce became inconsistent in consistency. Next time I will stir the sauce more often. I still am not great at chopping things, I need to be more consistent with the size of everything when chopping with a knife. Next week I will make roasted vegetables.

20% Project Week #3

This week, I made an attempt at cooking pasta sauce for spaghetti. This time, I only cooked the sauce from scratch, and I just put pre-made spaghetti noodles into a boil, and next time I might try to make pasta dough which seems like a really big challenge. This week was one of the first times I was chopping something, and it was one thing I struggled with and I will practice it more as I continue to cook. I also struggled with knowing when to stop the stove’s heat. This time I cooked the sauce, I used diced tomatoes from a can. A great compromise me and my mom made was that the tomato already had water in it, so then I wouldn’t have to put anymore water in the pot, which is what the recipe says. Next time I make spaghetti sauce, I will boil the sauce with lower heat, and double the time to cook, because I felt like the sauce could have been much thicker. Next week, I will make an attempt at making a stock.

20% Project Week #2

This week, I tried to bake at least two batches of cookies. This week, I was pretty successful when baking cookies for the most part. I did everything mostly right, and I was pretty happy with the end result. At the end when I tasted it, I tried to grab one and I ended up breaking the cookie completely for the first time. I struggled on whisking the butter with all the dry ingredients. Some things I also struggled with is when I made the first batch I still pre heated the batch of cookies, and I baked them for 15 minutes, at 350 degrees, following the instructions. For the next batch, I baked them for 16 minutes. Still, next time I will bake the cookies for 18 minutes and maybe bump up the heat a bit. Next week, I will learn how to use a knife and gain skills with them, to help with chopping, and many other things related to cooking and baking.

My Dinner With Celebrities

If I could have dinner with any 3 people or characters in the world, dead or alive, I would chose to have dinner with Kobe Bryant, Martin Luther King Jr. and with Jesus himself. First of all, I chose to have dinner with Kobe Bryant because of his “mamba mentality,” and the work ethic he has. To me, Kobe Bryant is one of the most inspirational beings to me, and I look up to him a lot. Secondly, I want to have a dinner with along with Martin Luther King Jr. because he is the reason everyone lives the way they do, Unsegregated from different races. I owe great thanks to Martin Luther. Lastly, the reason why I am dying to have dinner with Jesus is because, I have never been with someone with almost a perfect soul, a godly being. This would be a great experience to have.
